Sofa Dressing Tips

We’ve all had that new Sofa feeling when your Sofa is so perfect you don’t even want to sit on it in case you wrinkle it a teeny bit… The good news is, you can keep your Sofa looking pristine by dressing it!

Dressing your furniture regularly helps to keep your Sofa in its best possible condition! Here are our Sofa dressing tips.

Loose Cushions

Want to keep your Cushions looking fresh and fabulous? The secret is all in the ‘plump’. It might seem obvious, but plumping your Cushions really does make all the difference. All the Loose Cushions on your Sofas should be plumped front and back regularly. To keep them looking in tip-top shape, plump them once a week. We recommend doing six plumps minimum, per Cushion. Don’t forget to plump the front and the back an even amount of times, so you don’t have uneven-looking Cushions.

Reversible Cushions

To keep your reversible Cushions looking pristine, remember to flip them! Turning your reversible Cushions around regularly will help you get the most out of them. You should also swap around their positioning. This way you can avoid signs of wear and tear as time goes on.

Arm and Fixed Seat Cushions

Don’t forget the Arms and Seat Cushions! To keep your Sofa looking its best, tend to your Arm Cushions and Fixed Seat Cushions every time you lounge. The best way to tend to them is by simply smoothing any creases or bumps with your arms. It might seem silly, but you will notice a big difference! It’s super simple and only takes a minute but makes a huge impact on the condition of your Sofa.

Fabrics Pads on Chaise Style Sofas

Want to get the most life out of your Sofa? Be sure to give your Sofa Pads a little love after every lounging session. You should be dressing the kickboards after every use too. Our Sofa pads are designed to move with you, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need a little TLC. To keep them looking their best, we recommend straightening out and repositioning your Fabric Pads after every use.

Chenilles and Velvets

Nothing screams luxury like velvet! But, to keep it staying gorgeous for longer you have to dress it properly. It’s hard to keep a Sofa pristine all of the time, especially when you have family. Nights sat curled up around the TV and catch ups with tea and biscuits, can move the pile of your Sofa. The marks you might notice after you use a Velvet or Chenille Sofa are due to the pile moving as you and your loved ones use your Sofa. Don’t panic though, it’s an easy fix. To smooth out those marks, we recommend using a soft bristle brush to gently brush the pile to it’s original position. Good as new! If you want to go the extra mile, a light steaming can be effective at helping relieve any pressure marks.

Dust and Grime

We know how messy family life can get, whether it’s little paws or grubby hands, mess builds up! To help stop dust and imperfections from building up, we recommend hoovering your Sofa once a week. This is one of the easiest Dressing tips, as it can just be added to your usual hoovering routine. Go in with a very light hand so you don’t damage your Fabric. Dust and grime gone!
