Inspiration November 14, 2024 Back for more inspiration 60s Styling Today at G Plan, we are swinging back to the Sixties. An era of revolution and one of the most creative periods in history. Take some inspiration from this iconic era into your living area this winter. If you love the 60s aesthetic but are unsure how to transfer it to your space, keep reading. Bold and bright One of the major style features of the 60s was the colour. We weren’t afraid to go bold back then! Over the years most people have become less daring with colour, but it’s about time we stopped. In our archival photos from the 60s you can see a plethora of rich, bright tones. From the carpets, to our iconic Sofas, everything was colourful in the 60s. One easy way you can recreate this iconic look is through your Sofa. Why not emulate the look of the blue Suite from our 1968 catalogue, with The Riley in our Grano Mulberry Fabric or The Amelia in our Plush Indigo Fabric. Pattern and stripes Breathe some 60s into your home with pattern and texture. Not only were they 60s more colourful but we also played with patterns in our homes a lot more. Patterns can be quite daunting, but they needn’t be. Tweed patterns and stripes can easily be incorporated into your home. Start small, with some striped accessories. A striped vase or some of our Scatter Cushions in Cardiff Autumn could make for some interesting texture in your living area. Patterned accents like a throw can also bring some of the 60s back to your home. If you want to go bolder, check out our patterned Fabrics. Our Contour Flamenco pattern is a bold unique fabric that multiple of our Sofas and Chairs are available in. Alchemy Amethyst is a warm, fun pattern that could look brilliant in your home as an Accent Chair. Warm Hues Along with the bold, bright colours of the 60s, warm hues were also very in. Cosy browns, deep reds and oranges were all the rage. Warm lighting fixtures are a brilliant way to emulate the 60s cosiness in your living space without changing too much of your existing furniture. Swap out those harsh bulbs for a lower, warmer tone. A rug is also a great way to pull in warmer tones into your living room, consider a deep red rug or a chocolate brown. Consider adding a Footstool into your space. A cosy way to improve your relaxing time and a great accessory to your space. We have Footstools in all shapes and sizes and Fabrics, all made to the highest G Plan quality. Check out our Morley Round Swivel Footstool in Plush Umber! So, there you have it!
