2024 Interior Design Trends

So here we go! 2024 is finally upon us – We hope this year is filled with a bounty of peace, love and joy for you. We are sure the months ahead will be full of lots of exciting things, but we’ve kicked it off by taking a deep dive into the Interior Design Trends that lay ahead for 2024.

Maximalism is at the height of fashion, gorgeous green tones are filling homes and vintage furniture is once again being given a new lease of life. In this blog post, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite 2024 Interior Design Trends; so, it’s time to get cosy and tuck into some living room design inspiration for the year ahead.

Green is in the Limelight

From rich sage greens to little minty pastels, green hues have well and truly set the tone (pardon the pun) for 2024 Interior Design Trends. Whether it’s the colour of your living room walls, the crockery you eat your food off or the G Plan Sofa you sit on in the evenings, some form of green colour is paramount in your home this year.

Fired Earth offers a wonderful selection of green paints, perfect for sprucing up your living room for the year ahead! Our particular favourite is Dartmouth Green; ideal for living rooms and kitchens alike, this dusty dark green has a lovely warm tone that brings a slightly more grownup feeling with it.

If you’re looking to incorporate some green furniture into your living room, we highly recommend our Monza Sofa in Cambridge Olive. This combination of G Plan sofa and fabric offers an air of sophistication, while being incredibly practical and undeniably comfortable. Cambridge Olive is a very soft and supple leather, one that you can easily sink into to relax and unwind; it also fits perfectly into the 2024 green interior design trend. Lounge Around on an L-Shaped Sofa

If you’re looking to have an exceptionally loungey 2024, then you’re just in luck! L-Shaped Sofas are bang on trend in 2024, offering extra legroom and a place to stretch out if you so desire. G Plan Chaise Sofas are excellent for any shape or size of living room; the chaise ends can be configured to a left hand facing or right hand facing position, depending on your preference.

We offer 2 Seater, 3 Seater and Corner Chaise Sofas, allowing you to choose the right size to fit your home. Our Jackson Corner Chaise Sofa configuration also comes with the option of adding a Power Recliner Unit, so that you can fully relax and unwind in style.

Say Hello to Silver Lighting

Every cloud has a silver lighting – well, at least it does in 2024! Silver lighting is a glimmering interior design trend this year, adding metallic hints to living spaces. From lamps to wall fixings and tealight holders, a form of silver lighting should take centre stage within your home this year. The Dorma Purity Usha Mercury Glass Table Lamp from Dunelm is a tasteful way of incorporating some silver lighting into a living space, without it being too overwhelmingly dazzling. Paired with a simple white lampshade, this is a very lovely lamp configuration which will sit nicely with any other silver accessories you already have featured in your living spaces.

If something a little smaller takes your fancy, perhaps these delicate Silver Mercury Glass Tea Light Holders from Burrow & Nest will hit the silver lighting spot. These would look perfect on your dining room table or on some floating shelves; fill them with your favourite scented tealights and enjoy the gentle ambience these dainty silver tealight holders emit.

Vintage Furniture is Here to Stay

Preloved and vintage furniture is still very much on trend in 2024. Filling interior design mood boards across the globe, vintage furniture (much like retro G Plan pieces), is a must-have in your living spaces this year. Reusing vintage and preloved furniture is a great way to incorporate some wonderful character into your home, at little to no cost at all.

You can find many vintage G Plan pieces on the market today, including Fresco Sideboards, Brandon Chest of Draws and Cabinets. Why not reimagine the way you’d use vintage G Plan furniture in your home? Style an old G Plan Dressing Table as a lovely desk space to work from home, or utilise a retro G Plan cabinet as a bathroom vanity unit. We love to see how you style your vintage G Plan furniture, so make sure you share pictures of your retro pieces with us on Instagram! Simple tag @gplandesign in your photos – We’ll even give it a reshare as well!

Maximalism is Having its Moment

Minimalism has been replaced by Maximalism as a 2024 interior design trend. Maximalism design is all about more is more by blending a mixture of patterns, colours and textures within a space. If done tastefully, maximalism can offer a dazzling impression, presenting more and more to a viewer with each look. This year, why not add some bold and daring wallpapers into your home, to gently invite the maximalism trend into your life? We favour this Pineapple Harvest Wallpaper from Milton & King, which also ties nicely into the green tones that also feature heavily in 2024 interior design trends. A mirage of colours and illustrations, this pineapple-themed wallpaper is the epitome of maximalist design and will bring some playful character to any home.

Why not throw the Jay Blades X G Plan Morley Corner Sofa into the mix to create maximum impact? A generous L-Shaped Sofa – styled in gorgeous green fabrics to fit the 2024 interior design trends brief, of course – Morley can be configured completely to your liking, to create the G Plan Sofa of your dreams! Morley can even include a refined bookcase arm feature, adding even further to the maximalist design of this already impressive sofa.
