Inspiration September 18, 2023 Back for more inspiration Autumn 2023 Interior Trends You’ll FALL in Love with! And just like that, Autumn is upon us. You may be sad to say farewell to Summer, but here at G Plan, we’re very much ready to welcome in the most wholesome season of the year. It’s time to cast away the bright and bold colours of summer, replacing them with rich rusty oranges and cosy earthy colours. We’ve put together a list of our favourite Autumnal interior trends for this year; we recommend reading this blog with a big bowl of steaming apple crumble and lashings of custard! Snuggly Statement Rugs Rugs are a great way to enclose a space and make a room feel much cosier. A great way of injecting a little bit of personality into an environment, a rug can effortlessly transform the atmosphere of a living space. Add adventurous character to your room with a patterned rug, or play it safe with some calming neutrals. A rug or floor throw will bring a sense of warmth to your living room during the Autumn months, especially if it’s made from a soft and supple material. What shape of rug you choose really depends on the size of your room. A rectangular rug works better in a bigger room, allowing it to seem more spacious and inviting. Circular rugs are the perfect choice for smaller rooms, creating a focal point through differing textures. Rugs can really bring a room together and be a snuggly textile to nestle your chilly toes into. If you’re looking for something extra Autumnal, pick floor coverings that are deep hues of oranges or reds, reflecting the changing of seasons taking place outside. A Vision of Vases Whether empty or full of beautiful bunches of flowers, vases make for wonderful decoration in a home. Empty vases work especially well when displayed in playful arrangements, in various textures and colours. Opt for darker, earthier coloured vases for Autumnal interiors. Why not throw in a few vessels that are made from organic materials, such as terracotta, to create differing aesthetics. There’s no need to keep your vases stored away in a cupboard; from jam jars to vintage jugs and ceramic urns, vases are a simple but effective way to create blissful Fall inspired displays. Your living room sideboard or floating shelves are the best places to exhibit your array of vases. Fill a few with beautiful blooms, Autumnal scented candles or just leave them empty, to create varying levels of height and intricate displays. Bring on the Blankets As the weather begins to get a little cooler, we turn to the layering of blankets and throws to take the chill off. There’s nothing better than being curled up on the sofa with a soothing blanket and cup of tea! Soft and plush fabrics are best for the Autumnal blankets. Choose materials such as cashmere, wool or velvet-styles, for an extra snuggly relaxation experience. Throws are also excellent soft furnishing accessories; hang a blanket over the arm of your G Plan Sofa, to create an inviting corner to nestle into. Having extra blankets around during the Fall season is always a good idea, especially if you often have friends and family come to visit. There’s always that one person that feels the cold easier than others, so having a spare blanket (or two) to cuddle under will keep everyone nice and cosy this Autumn. Our Storage Footstools are also excellent places to squirrel away extra blankets and throws, if you don’t want them all out at the same time. Mistral 3 Seater Sofa (3 Cushion) shown in Waffle Taupe. Colour Changing Seasons We often associate burnt oranges, earthy greens and deep mustards with the arrival of Autumn. This beautifully rich palette reflects the great leaf abscission taking place outside. The golden hues of Autumn emit a wholesome atmosphere and can easily be laced into your interior décor. This time of year, we all start to yearn to put our wellies on and go for a brisk autumnal walk, crunching through the leaves as we go. Here at G Plan, we have various fabrics and leathers that can easily bring seasonal colours into your home. Fabulous Floating Shelves No matter how big or small, floating shelves can make a space feel much bigger. This is an excellent feature during the dark Autumnal nights, especially when calming, ambient lighting is placed on open shelving. Instead of hanging closed cabinets and cupboards on your walls, turn to less bulky floating bookshelves instead. They are a wonderful way to save space, incorporating more storage and functionality into your living room. You can include cute Autumnal accessories on open shelves during Fall, such as ceramic pumpkins, burnished copper ornaments and the layering of antique books. Trailing houseplants are always great additions to floating shelves, creating engaging levels of nifty decoration. Floating shelves create warm and inviting displays for guests to look at, allowing all your beloved trinkets to always be on show. Add a few pumpkin spice scented candles to your floating shelves, to fully immerse yourself in the Autumnal spirit.
