5 Simple Sofa Date Ideas

It’s that time of the year again. The shops are full of love heart themed gifts, and there’s flower bouquets as far as the eye can see. Valentine’s Day isn’t for everyone, but it’s still nice to celebrate the ones we love, and you don’t have to break the bank to do so.

We’ve come up with a few Valentine’s Day date night ideas that can easily be done without even having to leave your sofa. Whether you’ll be cosying up on your G Plan sofa or heading out for the evening this Valentine’s Day, here are 5 simple sofa date ideas that you can do with your partner anytime of the year.

A Romantic Wine Tasting for Two

Nothing says a romantic evening in like a good bottle of wine. Head to your nearest supermarket and select one or two (or three) bottles of wine that you’ve never tried before. Grab some good snacks and cosy up on your sofa for the evening, taste testing some potential new favourites.

Not in the mood for alcohol? Many supermarkets now stock low alcohol- or alcohol-free wines. So the same concept can be applied, or if you’re not a fan of wine, try it with beer or your prefered drink of your choice.

Worried about spilling wine on your sofa? Why not take a look at our range of Aquaclean® fabrics. Take the stress away of cleaning spillages off your sofa fabric, with this revolutionary stain-release material; simply wipe away household stains with water!

A Traditional Movie Marathon

A date night classic. Pick a couple of your beloved films, order your favourite take away and hunker down for the evening in front of the TV. In line with Valentine’s Day, we recommend picking cheesy rom coms, our favourites being Notting Hill or 50 First Dates.

If you’re not in the mood for a movie, pick your favourite series instead; grab some blankets and get comfortable on the sofa for some serious binge watching.

In Door Picnic

If you don’t want to cook or not in the mood for a take away this Valentine’s Day, why not have a sofa picnic instead? Pop to the shops on your way home from work and buy a selection of your favourite picky tea foods.

This is a much quicker, easier and cheaper option for a lovely Valentine’s dinner, instead of booking a table at a restaurant. For extra comfort, get into your pyjamas and have a super relaxed sofa picnic.

Our Spencer Footstool is the perfect place to host a sofa picnic; with a hidden reversible tray, your sofa date snacks can be within arm’s reach, so that you barely have to move!

Sofa Star Gazing

Take your sofa cushions outside, along with some comfy pillows and maybe even the duvet, and take a look up at the night sky. This isn’t the best option if it’s been raining, so save it for a dry, clear evening. Listen to the sounds of the natural world around you, whilst you and your loved one try to work out which constellations you can see, or even if you can spot the Milky Way.

Get lost in the stars and spend some quality one-to-one time with your partner; this is an idea you could do by yourself if you wanted to. Make a cuppa, grab some of your favourite biscuits and lay under the stars for a bit, reconnecting with the outside world and having a well needed rest from screen time.

Play Your Favourite Card or Board Game

This is an oldy but goody, making it an ideal sofa date idea.  Dust off the pack of cards you’ve stuffed away in the miscellaneous draw (we all have in our homes, don’t worry) and deal a hand. This is a good way to have some friendly competitiveness with your partner, although we 100% don’t recommend playing monopoly together this Valentine’s Day. No one wants to end up sleeping on the sofa; that being said, The Fifty Four is a great option if you ignore our advice.

So there we have it, our 5 simple sofa date ideas that can be organised for any night of the year, not just Valentine’s Day. Which one will you be giving a go first?
