G Plan’s Top Styling Tips for Summer 2022

Summer has officially arrived and we’re all embracing the long, sunnier days. Freshening up your interiors is a great way to bring the sunshine into your home and celebrate the colours of the season. We’ve gathered some joyful inspiration and our favourite looks for summer styling.

Add pops of colour through fresh foliage

Bring the outside in by adding vases of bright, colourful flowers into your home. Table-scaping is a great way to weave in seasonal tones and accentuate your design style. A bold coloured or vibrant print tablecloth mixed with florals, coloured glasses and candles is the perfect setting for enjoying time with family and friends.

Bring in zesty tones

Nothing screams summer like citrus colours and patterns! Pastel lemons and bright orange tones can immediately bring back memories of summer dining, or sipping on something refreshing in the sunshine (are you thinking of a certain type of fruit cup tipple, because we certainly are!). Consider adding citrus prints throughout your home, such as artwork and scatter cushions, to elongate that warm, summery feeling. A bowl of fresh fruit in the kitchen adds instant colour and can be changed seasonally – think about strawberries around Wimbledon and juicy peaches for late summer. Zingy citrus-scented summer candles also provide the ideal fragrance to those never-ending summer evenings.

Choose light, natural materials

The arrival of longer, warmer days means swapping heavier sofa throws for lighter blankets. Brighter woods help to lift a living area and bring a contemporary, airy, relaxed feeling to a space. Using woven textures like rattan, jute placemats and seagrass baskets will bring in natural tones to create the perfect summer ambience. Our favourite G Plan summer-themed fabrics are Plush Turmeric, Mamas Ocean and Combarro Chestnut.

Bring the seaside to your home

It wouldn’t be summer without long, sunny days spent at the beach. Of course, you always need to remember your factor 50, and don’t forget change for a Mr Whippy! Inject coastal calm into your home environment with soft stripes and simple neutrals. Rope detailing and weathered woods give rugged, nautical textures whilst pops of navy and rust-tones add a contemporary twist.
