It’s that time of year again, are you ready for a Spring clean? It may seem like a daunting task, and oh too easy to put off, but with a bit of careful planning, it can even be, dare we say it…fun! The first rule of spring cleaning is of course to make a large cup of tea or coffee and put on some music. We always find this helps! For those unsure where to begin, here are our top five tasks to tackle when undertaking a spring clean…
1. Clean the walls
Before you call a decorator or spend money on tins of paint, try gently sponging the walls to remove dirty marks. A sponge and some water will usually lift most everyday stains but for stubborn ones you might need a more powerful product.
2. Sort out wardrobes
Clearing out your closets and organising your clothes will make your daily routine much easier, and will also help free up some storage space for other items.
3. Organise bookshelves
It sounds simple, but sorting through your books and re-organising your bookshelves will make a big difference. A tidy shelf will stop a room looking cluttered and make those favourite titles easier to find. Line some horizontally and others vertically to create an interesting display and avoid the monotony of a linear structure.
4. Do a deep clean
Give your home a really thorough clean. Wash the windows, polish silver, wipe lampshades and windowsills and get to work on all those jobs you haven’t done for a while. Set aside a day, pop on your marigolds and make your home glisten and gleam!
5. A simple makeover
A quick and easy makeover will make all the difference to your interior setting. Bedding, towels, cushions and throws are easy to replace and by introducing new colour schemes you can totally transform a room with little expense or effort.
Just a few simple changes, a good clean and some new interior accessories and your home will feel refreshed and ready for the new season!
