Hours: 8.00 – 5.00 Monday to Thursday. 9.00 – 12.00, 7.00 – 12.00 rotating weekly on Friday

We are looking for a Transport Assistant to join our Distribution team at this exciting time of growth.

As a key member of our Distribution function, you will work alongside the Transport team and your operational colleagues in our purpose-built Wiltshire head office and manufacturing facility. The heart of the organisation, this is where we proudly hand-make every single G Plan sofa and chair. A G Plan sofa is an investment piece and our consumers know they are buying a sofa designed with the values of enduring comfort and quality at its core.

Within this varied role you will: –

  • Prepare and prioritise all bookings in, and amendments where necessary, following each individual customer booking in / cancellation requirement and enter onto the computer system for each individual order.
  • Advise customers of cancellations following each individual customer contact request.
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager and Transport Planner to amend / alter / rebook all redeliveries and reconcile proof of deliveries against the loads.
  • Oversee the department file management system.
  • Assist in despatching of loads and collection notes.
  • Deal with incoming calls to department from customers.
  • Data entry of all orders / cancellations and amendments onto the computer system.
  • Log all return to factory notes onto the returns spreadsheet and inform the factory daily of what is being collected and when. Update the computer system with the received returns and pass paperwork onto aftersales to allow credits to be processed.
  • Ensure all tickets for returns are completed and given to the factory ready for returns arriving back.
  • Log all drivers’ timesheets onto working time spreadsheet and file accordingly.
  • Record and file truck and trailer service sheets upon receipt from the garage and liaise with the Transport Manager regarding any missing information.

 

 

Applicants will possess the following key skills: –

  • Previous experience within a transport/manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience within an administrative role.
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP software advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office – particularly Excel (advanced) and Word.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and good attention to detail.
  • Practical and flexible approach to work.
